When ones work is equal to ones judgment, that
is a bad sign for ones judgment; and when ones
work surpasses ones judgment, that is worse. As happens
when a photographer is amazed at having done so well; and
when judgment exceeds the work, that is a very good omen
and a person so endowed will without a doubt produce excellent
work. He will compose few works but they will be of the
kind to make others stop and contemplate such perfection
with admiration.
Adapted form the writings of Leonardo
DaVinci.

Human vision has one extraordinary ability that a photographer
cannot take for granted. It can perfectly focus on two separate
images as seen by two eyes, each from a slightly different
angle, and marry them into one single picture.
Such binocular vision is the key to how we perceive shape,
form and depth; and it cannot be duplicated in photography.
With limitation of monocular vision, photography reduces
an image to a two dimensional formthe flat surface
of the paper combined with only the appearance of depth
within the image.
